About Mel’s Tiny Stitch Shop

I’m a stay at home mom that needs creative outlets to stay sane, which means lots of hobbies and trying new things.

My grandma taught me how to sew and knit when I was younger and I had a very brief interest that ended up coming back many years later. I took a sewing class back in 2024 because I wanted to get back into it but wanted to make sure I liked it before really committing. 

I ended up buying a sewing machine for my birthday that year and decided the first thing I was going to make on my own was a quilt for my friend’s daughter. I never start anything on a small level, I always have to go all out. (Go big or go home, am I right?) The quilt turned out cute and I really enjoyed making it so I decided to make some of my close friends a quilt for their birthday. (5 quilts was a large task to take on and only one was given on their actual birthday BUT they did all eventually get their birthday quilts!) I was loving my new creative outlet and ended up making all sorts of things. 

My list of things I want to make has only grown since then and sewing is a very expensive hobby.  I wanted a way to be able to afford to continue creating things and people seemed to like the things I was making. Short story long, that’s how Mel’s Tiny Stitch Shop was born!
